Moments of Gold

We make memories in so many beautiful places. Here the last light before sundown gives everything an almost otherworldly golden glow. I always loved the evening light, especially when it’s time for a bonfire on the beach like that night. We took our sweaters, thick socks, wine, and a double quilt to sit on. Our dogs are always with us wherever we go, wherever we move. Last Autumn all across the continent. From New York to Seattle. We seem to hop along the Canadian border a lot these days, and just when we settle in a little, you bet we get another assignment in another state. Keeping us on the move. It’s a blessing and a curse. Some kind of wonderful in so many ways. Very challenging for my depression ridden brain, which can’t keep up with all these changes, but it is what it is. Days, weeks, months just fly by. Years, soooo many of them. So we have to take those moments and work our magic. They are our lifeline. Something to lean on in days to come, when so much change clouds my brain and makes me numb to life around me. Overload, triggers, boxes to pack, boxes to unpack. The first thing, after again moving into a new place, is for me to throw some fairy lights over the boxes, take a camping chair, feet up, light a candle and get a glass of wine. Done. —- Rituals. It really comes down to that. Good night. Simone

  1. This is beautiful, Simone. Even when our external (and internal) world is chaotic, it’s nice to have just one piece of something that brings a feeling of normalcy and calm. It can be something so simple but it has such a profound impact on our well-being. β™₯ Wishing you all the very best!
