My Tree of life

Humble, old mighty tree

As you are, I wish to be

For none would hear

The fear of fire so near

Not one man to know

As waters swoll, and swoll

How my roots went to rot’

To blind things it was not’

And as my leaves turned to dust

Their very screams a silent hush

As the sun burned them all

All the parasites came crawl’

Once protecting, now besieged

Once so strong, and now so weak

I gave my life to all that grew

Through me with love, forever new

My leaves once dancing in a breeze

Through winds in starlit nights like these

Right now, forever is out of my hand

But forever was life,

and forever was grand
